General Practice in Spotlight of new Patients First Appointment
Jess White is the latest addition to Patients First’s core services team. Jess comes with a strong background in liaising with general practice; particularly in the management of service development, process improvement and information projects. She is coming into the team as a senior project manager.
“Jess has extensive experience in working with the coal face of general practice to deliver meaningful projects”, says Jayden MacRae, CEO of Patients First. “She is well regarded in the general practice community both locally and nationally. The knowledge that Jess has of general practice will help Patients First to strengthen our ability to provide pragmatic and relevant advice to sector ICT projects. Jess’ background in business planning and financial modelling for general practice provides another dimension to Patient First expertise.”
Jess comes to Patients First from the Fire Service, where she has been in a senior project management role. Prior to this Jess worked for Compass Health, Valley PHO and Capital PHO. Her roles in these health organisations have ranged from working in General Practice Development and Strategy, to Regional Practice Liaison leadership, and service delivery.
White is fizzing about being back in health, “I just had to come back to the health sector where project management is an art of balancing structured delivery frameworks with a pragmatic approach to problems.”
“Patients First will give me an opportunity to work on a larger scale than I have previously, influencing better systems for better patient outcomes.”
Jess will initially be involved in coordinating the remaining Patients First PMS reviews; provide advice into the National Enrolment Service project and pick up some new Patient First initiatives in the near future.

- PMS Reviews are a briefing series to the sector outlining considerations and issues on four topics relating GP patient management system vendors; Patient Portals; Prescribing Facilities; Cloud and Hosted solutions; and PMS Support. These reviews will be released progressively over coming months.
- The National Enrolment Service is designed to streamline the way in which patients are enrolled in general practice. Patients First is providing project management services to the first High Level requirements stage of the project.
