Mark Corbitt appointed as Patients First Chief Executive Officer
Media Release – 15th May 2020
The Board of Patients First has appointed Mark Corbitt as the organisation’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mark will replace current CEO Helmut Modlik, who announced his resignation in early March 2020.
In accepting the role at Patients First, Mark said “the opportunity to be part of a not-for-profit that marries technology and health is exciting. It’s also great to be able to build on what has been achieved by Patients First previously.” Mark is motivated by improving the wellbeing of Kiwis, and “having the opportunity to add to that in any way is a powerful reason to work in health.”
Over the last 10 years Mark has held executive and leadership roles in a variety of sectors. Most recently he has been assisting MidCentral DHB’s Digital Services unit to establish and deliver the foundation of a strategic plan. The scope of this work covered new technologies, new processes and people change across all areas of the DHB, including in Telehealth, remote working, health records and collaboration.
His other roles in the technology and digital space include Chief Technology Officer for Aurora Energy and virtual Chief Technology Officer for Delta Utilities, Chief Information Officer for Contact Energy and Chief Information Officer for Housing New Zealand Corporation.
Patients First chairman David Moore said “Mark is a positive and impressive person and brings a new set of skills to Patients First.” Mark’s background is a clear demonstration of his ability to deliver change and add business value, with a focus on strategic thinking and collaboration. He said that he’s looking forward to “working as part of primary care, assisting with connecting and integrating technology that improves healthcare in New Zealand and the health of all New Zealanders.”
Mark will join the Patients First team full-time on 6 July 2020.
