The National Enrolment Service (NES) is the single source of truth for all national enrolment data. It supports general practices by assisting with patient identification and eligibility assessments. It is a Ministry of Health initiative.
Due to the amount of data that is shared between core services in the health sector, the NES is especially important because it means that patient data is shared more accurately and quickly. It also contributes to clinical safety and reduces the financial liability on general practices by reducing processing and payment cycles.
The goal of the NES is to give a core set of personal health information to all New Zealanders and their healthcare providers.
More information about the NES is available on the Ministry of Health’s website.
